Located at the southernmost tip of the mainland, Wilsons Promontory or the 'Prom' as locals refer to in short is one of the largest, most popular and spectacular National Parks within Victoria. Famous for stunning coastline, bushland walks and squeaky beaches where the sand beneath your feet actually squeaks as you walk.
The Prom has something for everyone. Beautiful natural attractions where the vegetation varies from bushland inhabited by koalas, to rain forests with ancient tree ferns and running streams, secluded wild flowers that begin blooming in late winter through to spring, an abundance of native animals, birds, reptiles and plants, magnificent beaches and thick coastal forest along with more than 150 kilometres of walking tracks and short walks such as the nature trail on Lilly Pilly Gully.
Longer walks can be taken which bring you to places such as Seallers Cove or to the top of the Prom, where you can visit the light house built back to 1859. For the more adventurous, you need to consider tide times to make creek crossings easier.
There is good concentration of amenities and accommodation, including camping and caravan sites. If camping ensure to book camping accommodation in advance as at Christmas, Easter, Cup Day and Labour Day weekend can become booked out.
